Amazon Launches Drone Delivery Service in US States

Amazon, an e-commerce giant, has begun utilizing drones to deliver orders in the US states of California and Texas. With an aim to rapidly supply packages to customers’ dwellings, Amazon Prime Air will fly out orders within an hour. A few customers in Lockeford, California and College Station, Texas, have already had packages delivered by drone. Natalie Banke, an Amazon Air spokesperson, stated, “Our goal is to safely introduce our drones to the skies. We are starting in these communities and will gradually expand deliveries to more customers over time.”

In 2020, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted the company ‘Part 135’ approval to send packages by drone. Customers living in Lockeford and College Station may sign up to place orders, and Amazon will notify customers who live elsewhere when drone delivery is available in their area. After placing an order, customers will get tracking information and an approximate delivery time, when the drone will deliver the package to their backyard.
