1. The Client
Bromed is the medical supply division of Brosco International, which is the world’s largest manufacturer of medical disposable products and specialty devices. Brosco International has the largest global distribution network and manufacturing capabilities; Bromed provides critical products to a high-risk environment consisting of hospitals, government agencies, specialty retailers, and wholesalers in several different countries across multiple continents.
2. The Challenge
Although Brosco International has a significant global presence, Bromed had difficulty implementing a digital transformation for their complicated sales process. They wanted to move away from legacy, manual workflows and implement a sophisticated digital first infrastructure.
Some of the main challenges Ceymox encountered were:
- Complex Customer/Client Hierarchies: Bromed’s wide variety of clients (from small clinics to large government entities) created complex account structures and role-based access that standard e-commerce platforms could not provide.
- Operational Inefficiency: The manual ordering process was causing delays in the sales cycle. They wanted “self-service” capabilities for their distributors to manage credit and bulk orders.
- Fragmented Inventory: With inventory located throughout various vendors, Bromed did not have a real-time view of their inventory and thus there was a risk of missed fulfillment opportunities.
- Data Security: As a result of the sensitive nature of medical and business data handled, Bromed required an enterprise-level security system to protect this information.
3. Solutions Offered By Ceymox
Ceymox collaborated with Bromed to develop a custom B2B e-commerce solution using Magento 2. The Ceymox team used Magento 2’s flexibility (with the Martfury theme as a foundation) to develop a “B2C-like” experience with “B2B-grade” functionality.
Empowering Distributors with Self-Service
We moved the control from the back office to the customer. The Ceymox team made it possible for Bromed’s distributors to be able to manage their own accounts instead of requiring Bromed to manage all aspects of their account.
The Corporate Account Management Module that the Ceymox team developed allowed Bromed’s distributors to:
- Register and Manage Their Organization Structure: Self-registration allowed distributors to create sub-accounts for each employee within their organization structure and define the specific roles for each employee (for example: Purchasing Manager versus Buyer).
- Manage Credit Limits and Approval Workflows: Real-time credit limit visibility allowed employees to make purchases based on available funds and approval workflows enabled them to approve purchases electronically without having to contact Bromed’s customer service department.
Frictionless Bulk Ordering
Recognizing that medical buyers often order hundreds of SKUs at once, Ceymox optimized the path-to-purchase:
- Quick Order by SKU: The Ceymox team developed a Quick Order by SKU feature which allows customers to enter SKUs and populate cart quickly.
- Requisition Lists: Hospitals can save frequently purchased lists so that these lists can be easily reordered with one click each month.
- Quote Management: A digital quote management system was also developed to enable direct communication between the hospital and the distributor to negotiate prices and create customized quotes.
Advanced Backend Functionality
The Ceymox engineering team focused on developing backend functions to enable the platform to grow as Brosco grows.
- Multi-Vendor Inventory Synchronization: The Ceymox team developed a multi-vendor inventory synchronization function to enable real-time tracking of inventory across multiple vendors and automate “in stock” notifications and backorder management.
- Sales Agent Masquerading: We developed a permission level called Sales Agent Masquerading which enables Bromed sales agents to “log in as a customer”, providing them with the ability to troubleshoot customer issues, build carts for customers, and review customer account status directly.

4. The Result
The launch of the Bromed digital transformation platform developed by Ceymox has greatly changed the way Bromed conducts their global sales activities.
- Streamlined Operations: Automating the sales workflow has dramatically decreased the time it takes for Bromed to process orders and the amount of administrative work required for the Bromed internal team.
- Enhanced Customer Experience: Customers are able to have a transparent, 24 hour, seven day a week shopping experience with real-time visibility to their inventory levels and shipment status.
- Scalable Architecture: The platform is “ERP Ready” and will allow Bromed to integrate ERP and Supply Chain Logic as Brosco enters new markets.

- Framework: Magento 2
- Theme: Martfury (Customized for B2B)

In addition to delivering a clear, 24/7 self-serve experience to Bromed’s distributors, this partnership created a scalable ERP-ready architecture for Bromed. Overall, Ceymox transformed an outdated hierarchical model of doing business into a smooth running digital machine capable of supporting Bromed’s aggressive growth plans.
